The Tatzelwurm is a lizard-like dragon from Alpine folklore (Austria, Switzerland, Bavaria, Italy) and Sweden, known as Stollenwurm of Bergstutz, described as having a cat's head, serpent body, short legs, and sometimes venomous, making a hissing sound. Sightings peaked with a 1934 photo sparking interest, but the creature, a type of lindworm, is largely considered mythical, though related folklore exists in South Sweden. Bisti/De-Na-Zin Wilderness New Mexico, US This huge area is filled with crazy rock formations that resemble everything from spacecraft to furniture to dragon eggs. Because it is a wilderness area, there are no trails and no vehicles are allowed either. The only way to see it is to walk on in and start exploring. The Measure of the Unknown Was the Door Throughout antiquity, doorways were not just points of entry. They were declarations. Consider the tholos tombs of Mycenae, monumental beehive chambers entered through doors over 5 meters high. The height served no domestic need. It dwarfed the human figure, enforcing reverence before one ever crossed the threshold. In the Treasury of Atreus, the lintel above the door alone weighs over 120 tons. These weren’t scaled for convenience. They were scaled for something else. We see the same pattern in Egypt’s Karnak temple, the Hittite gates of Hattusa, and the Great Mosque of Aleppo. Doorways two to three times the height of any human, with no clear mechanical reason to be that large. No pack animals required them. The interiors they guarded were often more modest than the doors themselves. Yet again and again, across empires and eras, these oversized portals reappear. Not scaled to us, but to something larger. Mainstream archaeology explains this as symbolism… grand entrances meant to impress, to honor gods or rulers. That may be so. But the consistency, the precision, the sheer scale, especially in sites with cyclopean masonry and absent scaffolding, raises deeper questions. Were these thresholds once practical, not performative? Functional, not just ceremonial? If so, they weren’t built for us. Follow @historiaocculta

Stalag Luft III was a German POW camp that is famously known as the site which The Great Escape Movie was based off. This is honestly the strangest prison camp I could ever conceive of. Join us now βˆ™ Channel βˆ™ Chat

Throat singing is a unique vocal technique practiced by people in Tuva, Mongolia and among the Inuit and other cultures. When a woman sings like this – with her whole voice, her breath, her body – a gate opens. A gate to something primordial. A gate to the part of us that still knows how to speak with the Earth. How to call animals. In many ancient cultures, this sound was sacred. Women in Mongolia and Tuva who imitated horses and wind with their voices. Inuit women who called the animals of the North through their breath – not singing about something, but as that being. The Plain of Jars is an ancient archaeological site at the Xiangkhoang Plateau in Laos, featuring thousands of large stone jars up to 10 feet high and weighing up to 14 tons. Their origin is still a mystery, but archaeologists believe they were used between 1,500 and 2,000 years ago as mortuary urns for a megalithic burial culture. Other theories suggest the jars may have been used to store food, water (especially monsoon rainwater), or even to ferment rice wine for a race of giants, as told in local legends. The exact purpose remains under investigation. The thousands of jars were carved from solid rock like sandstone, granite, and limestone in quarries and then transported to their final locations, sometimes miles away. How the ancient culture managed this transportation remains unknown. Partnership with @EARTHSEEDERS Join us now βˆ™ Channel βˆ™ Chat

A homemade cloudbuster based on Wilhelm Reich's orgone energy work. Reich claimed these devices could manipulate weather by directing energy through pipes grounded in water. Wilhelm Reich's lab equipment, including orgone accumulators, was destroyed by FDA agents in 1956 at his Orgonon estate in Rangeley, Maine. Join us now βˆ™ Channel βˆ™ Chat
