The Highest Form of Wealth
The highest form of wealth is the ability to wake up every morning and say, âI can do whatever I want today.â People want to become wealthier to make them happier. Happiness is a complicated subject because everyoneâs different. But if thereâs a common denominator in happinessâa universal fuel of joyâitâs that people want to control their lives. The ability to do what you want, when you want, with who you want, for as long as you want, is priceless. It is the highest dividend money pays.Book: The Psychology of Money by Morgan Housel

| 2 | How to start a conversation with strangers?
Ask for advice
People love giving advice. So, start your small talk with a request for advice: âI want to buy a smartphone [or a cocktail or a book], but I canât decide which one.â Most people will happily open up. Then thank them for the tip and the other person will feel like a fireman who has successfully extinguished a fire. The psychology behind this: if you ask for advice, you create intimacy; intimacy makes rejection difficult. Therefore, if you want to influence someone, it is a good idea to ask that person for advice first.
Ask a second question
We often ask something and then wait for the other person to ask something back. This is not a conversation. Instead, use the old reporter trick and ask a second question. If you just asked âWhere did you grow up?â, then a good follow-up question might be: âHow has that place shaped you?â

| 3 | Points to Remember
1. A lack of clarity about who you areâand what you should doâcan hurt. If it lingers long enough, it leads to a chaotic mind.
2. When your heart knows what you should do but your mind isnât willing to accept the consequences, a void begins to form inside you. You long for that void to be filled.
3. We lack clarity in our careers, relationships, and lives because we donât know who we really are, what we want, what our core values are, and what purpose our souls should serve.
4. This inner turmoil can spill into our everyday lives. The first step is to acknowledge it, then understand and accept who we are.
5. It can be difficult to come to terms with who we are deep down and what we want. Society has conditioned us to function according to its expectations. We have forgotten our real selves.

| 4 | Physical activity is the closest thing to a miracle drug.
It reduces cancer, depression, insomnia, dementia, diabetes, hypertension, arthritis, and many other disabling conditions â and increases healthy longevity. If you have the personality, resources, and inclination for extensive physical activity, thatâs great â youâll be much more likely to avoid disability and live independently into old age.
I can only stick with activities I enjoy. I play squash â not well but enthusiastically; for the hour Iâm on a squash court, thatâs all I think about, and when I finish, drenched in sweat, endorphins and other beneficial neurochemicals coursing through my body, I canât wait to play again. So, busy as my schedule is, I fit squash in.
Try to find vigorous activities you love doing. But if thatâs not for you, you can still get a large dose of the miracle drug if you build physical activity into your daily routines â taking stairs instead of the elevator, walking farther to work or stores, bicycling whenever possible. A brisk walk, ideally outdoors, is the most accessible. Four brisk walks every week for at least thirty minutes, ideally in a refreshing natural space, can do wonders.

| 5 | The Paradox â How Discipline Leads to Greater Freedom in Life
Discipline and freedom are often seen as conflicting ideas. Many people think discipline means restricting yourself, following rigid rules, and sacrificing enjoyment. But the truth is, discipline is the key to achieving genuine freedom in life.
When youâre disciplined with your time, you create a structure that ensures you complete your work efficiently. This leaves you with free time to pursue hobbies, spend with loved ones, or relax without guilt. On the other hand, if you lack discipline and waste time procrastinating, youâre left scrambling to meet deadlines, often sacrificing your personal time.
Freedom isnât about doing whatever you want whenever you want; itâs about having the ability to make meaningful choices. Discipline gives you that ability. For instance, if youâre disciplined with your financesâsaving consistently and avoiding unnecessary spendingâyou have the freedom to invest in opportunities, take vacations, or handle emergencies without stress. Conversely, a lack of financial discipline often leads to debt and dependency.

| 6 | We are not always kind to time.
In fact, it is very easy to kill time. We honestly believe weâre the ones causing the harm, but as playwright Dion Boucicault pointed out: âMen talk of killing time, while time quietly kills them.â It has been rephrased in many ways since, but the sentiment is the same. I think about it all the time. We can master so much â we feel we are in control of our time â but in this case it is to no avail.
Here are the words of the poet Henry Austin Dobson:
Time goes, you say? Ah, no.
Alas, time stays, we go.

| 7 | Never win an argument.
Whether itâs an argument, a heated discussion, or slight friction in conversation, your goal isnât to âwin.â Itâs to unravel. Start at the loose ends until you understand the heart of the matter. There youâll find the knot.
This is a book of knots. The hard stuff in social relationships that, admit it, youâd rather skip over. Untying crossed wires takes time, takes emotion, takes effort. Thatâs what conflict in communication represents: a struggle.
An argument is a window into another personâs struggle. In every difficult conversation, thereâs a moment when someoneâwhether itâs you or the other personâhits a snag. Maybe you donât understand what theyâre trying to say. Maybe youâre in a bad mood. Maybe you disagree. Itâs not the clash of opinions; itâs the clash of worlds, of the very way you see things.

| 8 | Be an Entrepreneur
The future is not something we enter. The future is something we create.
â Leonard I. Sweet, author and theologian
Entrepreneurship is one of the most powerful expressions of the Human Edge. At its core, itâs about imagination, initiative and impact. Itâs the ability to see possibilities where others see problems, to take risks and shape new realities. As we step into the AI age, entrepreneurship is no longer just for startup founders or business elitesâit is a mindset and skill set that every individual needs.
The AI age is not just disrupting jobs; it is reshaping the very idea of what a career looks like. Many traditional roles are disappearing, but in their place lies the rise of something excitingâthe Age of Entrepreneurs.

| 9 | How to Stay Focused When You Get Bored Working on Your Goals
âWhatâs the difference between the best athletes and everyone else?â I asked. âWhat do the really successful people do that most donât?â
He mentioned the factors you might expect: genetics, luck, talent.
But then he said something I wasnât expecting:
âAt some point, it comes down to who can handle the boredom of training every day, doing the same lifts over and over and over.â
His answer surprised me because itâs a different way of thinking about work ethic.
People talk about getting âamped upâ to work on their goals.
Whether itâs business or sports or art, you hear people say things like,
âIt all comes down to passion.â
Or, âYou have to really want it.â
As a result, many of us get depressed when we lose focus or motivation because we think that successful people have some bottomless reserve of passion.
But this coach said that really successful people feel the same lack of motivation as everyone else.
The difference is that they still find a way to show up despite the feelings of boredom.

| 10 | Not good, nor bad.
âThere is no evil in things changing, just as there is no good in persisting in a new state.â
â Marcus Aurelius, Meditations, 4.42
When people say change is good, theyâre usually trying to reassure someone (or themselves). Because instinctively we view change as bad â or at least weâre suspicious of it.
The Stoics want you to do away with those labels altogether. Change isnât good. The status quo isnât bad. They just are.
Remember, events are objective. Itâs only our opinion that says something is good or bad (and thus worth fighting against or fighting for). A better attitude? To decide to make the most of everything. But to do that you must first cease fighting.

| 11 | A deeper sense of time.
Perhaps you are familiar with an arresting, provocative image known as Your Life in Weeks. The visualization, popularized by blogger Tim Urban in 2014, is still in wide circulation a decade later. Here it is, in case you missed it:
How small and finite life feels when you see it represented like this, as a series of identical squares that can easily fit on one page.
Itâs a visual reminder that our time is limited â and incredibly precious.

| 12 | You Are What You Think
Good thoughts and actions can never produce bad results; bad thoughts and actions can never produce good results. This is but saying that nothing can come from but corn, nothing from nettles but nettles. Men understand this law in the natural world and work with it; but few understand it in the mental and moral world (though its operation there is just as simple and undeviating), and they, therefore, do not co-operate with it.
Book: As a Man Thinketh by James Allen | 16 709 |
| 13 | Youâre making a long-term assessment based on a short-term experience.
When you declare that youâll never find love because you just went through a breakup, or consider yourself fundamentally awful looking because youâre not loving your outfit today, or youâre sinking in the feeling that youâll never find your way in life because you feel lost right now â what youâre doing is extrapolating.
Extrapolation is the projection of a single experience into a long-term assumption about life.
âThis moment is not your life, this is a moment in your life.â â Ryan Holiday
Just because youâre temporarily having a negative experience does not mean it will define the rest of your life.
What youâre really saying is that you canât see a way out of your current circumstances â because in some way, you donât completely control them.
Book: When Youâre Ready, This Is How You Heal by Brianna Wiest | 18 820 |
| 14 | You have zero control over someone elseâs opinion of you.
It is impossible to control someone elseâs thoughts.
Therefore, fearing what other people think â or trying to control their thoughts â is a complete waste of your time.
You will never feel in control of your life, your feelings, your thoughts, or your actions until you stop being consumed with or trying to control what other people think about you.
Book: The Let Them Theory by Mel Robbins | 18 013 |
| 15 | One should remain a process â not a thing. That is intelligence.
Yesterday the river was passing through a desert, today it is passing through a forest; it is totally different. Yesterdayâs experience should not become your definition forever; otherwise you died yesterday.
One should be able to go on moving with time. One should remain a process, one should never become a thing. That is intelligence.
Book: Intelligence: The Creative Response to Now by Osho | 19 932 |
| 16 | The Law of Attraction
Everything you bring into the universe comes back to you. How you think, feel and act influences the progression of your life. The law of attraction exists. Like attracts like. When you maintain a positive mindset, you can obtain opportunities and achieve positive results.
When you visualize your goals and dreams, it can contribute to their realization.
When you practice gratitude for what you have, it becomes more and when you surround yourself with uplifting people you become more positive.
Whatever you send out into the universe will be returned to you. The more kindness you spread, the kindlier you will be treated. The more love you give to others, the more love you will receive. The more happiness you choose, the happier you will be. Not immediately, but eventually.
Book: This Is How It Feels to Be Seen by Sophie Beatrice | 18 313 |
| 17 | We canât convince anyone to love us.
We can only open ourselves to love when it happens naturally.
Our best path into such openness is to be as loving as we can be and give up concern for whether others respond in kind.
We love because we love, not to cajole anyone to love us back.
Paradoxically, a non-expecting love is the most likely to awaken love in others toward us.
Book: How to Be an Adult in Relationships by David Richo | 18 678 |
| 18 | You are not inferior. You are not superior. You are simply you.
You as a personality are not in competition with any other personality simply because there is not another person on the face of the earth like you, or in your particular class.
You are an individual. You are unique. You are not âlikeâ any other person and can never become âlikeâ any other person. You are not âsupposedâ to be like any other person and no other person is âsupposedâ to be like you.
