Previous Close (Dec 16): Nifty 50 closed around 25,860 (down ~0.64% or 167 points), Sensex around 84,680 (down ~0.63% or 533 points).
Drags: Metals, IT, banking/financials, realty due to persistent FII outflows, weakening rupee (near record lows), and weak global cues.
Opening Expectation Today: Likely weak/cautious to negative. GIFT Nifty indicating a mild gap-down (down ~0.2-0.6% in pre-market signals), pointing to opening near 25,700-25,800 for Nifty.
Overall Short-Term Trend: Bearish bias in the near term, with consolidation possible. Nifty has slipped below 26,000 psychological level; medium-term uptrend intact only if holds above 25,700-25,800.

The market closed lower yesterday amid weak global cues, persistent foreign institutional investor (FII) outflows, rupee weakness (breaching 91 against the USD), and sector-specific pressures in metals, realty, financials, and IT.
BSE Sensex: Closed at 84,679.86, down 533.50 points (-0.63%)
NSE Nifty 50: Closed at 25,860.10, down 167.20 points (-0.64%)
Mid- and small-cap indices also declined ~0.8-1%, with broader market weakness.
Key Highlights from Yesterday's Session:
Top Drags on Nifty: Axis Bank (down ~5% on NIM concerns), Eternal, HCL Technologies, Tata Steel, JSW Steel, Reliance Industries.
Top Gainers on Nifty: Bharti Airtel (~2%), Tata Consumer Products, Titan Company, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bajaj Auto.
Sector Performance: Realty, metals, IT, oil & gas, PSU banks, and private banks down 0.5-1%. Consumer durables, FMCG, and telecom showed relative strength.
Other Notes:
Vedanta rallied ~4% after NCLT approved its demerger plan.
FIIs were net sellers (~₹2,382 crore), while DIIs were buyers (~₹1,077 crore).
Rupee hit a record low, adding pressure.
