Dangote claims Farouk spent over $7 million on the education of his four children in Switzerland over six years without lawful income to justify the expenditure. He provided the names of the children, their schools, and the amounts paid to support his allegations. The petition further accuses Farouk of diverting public funds for personal gain, contributing to recent public outcry and protests.
According to Dangote, Farouk’s total earnings in the public sector cannot account for the $7 million allegedly used for his children’s education. The petition cites sections of the ICPC Act, noting that ab¥se of office, emb£zzlement, and corr¥pt enrichment are punishable by up to five years’ imprisonment without an option of fine.
Dangote emphasized that the ICPC is well-positioned to investigate and prosecute financial crimes and urged the commission to act decisively to uphold justice and protect the integrity of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration. He also pledged to provide evidence in support of his claims against Farouk Ahmed.

Further allegations suggest some of the players who appeared in the playoff match were over 21 but still held passports from other countries, making them ineligible under FIFA regulations.
According to SCORENigeria, the case against DR Congo could be stronger than a similar incident in which South Africa were penalized for fielding an ineligible player against Lesotho. A petition has reportedly been filed challenging DR Congo’s eligibility, offering the Super Eagles a potential path back to the World Cup provided the Intercontinental Playoffs in Mexico have not yet taken place.

Nigeria’s World Cup Dreams Rekindled Amid DR Congo Eligibility Scandal.
Nigeria’s hopes of qualifying for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been reignited following reports that DR Congo may face sanctions for using ineligible players.
In November, DR Congo defeated the Super Eagles on penalties to secure Africa’s spot in the Intercontinental Playoffs. However, claims have emerged that several DR Congo players who switched nationalities did not complete the necessary eligibility procedures.
Because DR Congo does not recognize dual citizenship, these players may have violated FIFA rules by failing to formally renounce their previous nationalities.

The statement clarified that any action taken by NAFDAC or other agencies on the matter without prior clearance from the SGF is invalid and should be disregarded by the public until a final directive is issued. Nigerians were assured that legislative resolutions, economic implications, public health concerns, and broader national interest considerations are being carefully examined.
NAFDAC had earlier announced that the production and sale of alc%holic beverages in sachets and bottles smaller than 200 millilitres would be prohibited by December 2025, citing the misuse of cheap alc%holic drinks among youths and drivers. However, the National Assembly has repeatedly called for a suspension of the ban pending further review.
A December 1 letter from the SGF’s Permanent Secretary, Mohammed Danjuma, to the Coordinating Minister of Health, Professor Muhammad Pate, and NAFDAC Director-General, Mojisola Adeyeye, requested their comments to enable an informed decision. The public will be formally informed once the SGF reaches a final position on the matter.
