Someone out there bought an overpriced butt plug. Good thing with our gifts, you can use them and sell them when you get bored. In some cases, even for more. In general, we’re waiting for the last gifts on August 14th, and then we can finally give up on them. I don’t see how this can continue without an endless price drop.

Today, we're expecting some supposed improvements to socks or other nonsense that got churned out during the gift-giving euphoria. The reason isn't exactly compelling—those same calendars that have let us down a few times already. I want to share my take on how the process of rolling out improvements and new gifts has noticeably slowed down. Obviously, this is clear to anyone who knows a bit about our Ton swamp, but I’ll say it anyway—everyone’s got an opinion, just like they’ve got an ass. Let’s start with improvements. As I mentioned, there was a time of mindless gift production, mostly just for the sake of the process. If we release an upgrade for those socks now, the total market volume will stay the same, but some money will shift to the new thing, since the idea of getting rich off gifts still lingers for many. In the end, money won’t appear out of thin air—other gifts will just drop in price. And when prices drop, new disappointed players pop up, which shrinks the market’s overall capitalization. Nobody wants that—neither those who’ve invested in this, nor Telegram’s leadership. I think the main hope now is for new participants to join, which could soften the blow. If there’s even a hint of growth, they’ll probably roll out upgrades for vintage gifts. Those will need to be improved sooner or later anyway. New gifts are trickier. On one hand, they’ll siphon liquidity from older models. But if we stop making new gifts, it’ll be even worse—we’ll just be left with useless pictures and near-zero turnover. New gifts are needed, but we have to be smarter about choosing them. Either something trendy like Labubu, or something iconic like a Durov figurine or Redo dog. We need gifts that even those who currently dismiss this stuff as cringe would want to own. Something hyped could not only pull in old money but, more importantly, attract new money. As for gifts tied to calendar holidays, they’re no longer needed. If someone wants to give a gift for May 1st, there’s plenty on the secondary market—that’s enough.

I should probably write down some thoughts on TON-ETF. Well, following the usual playbook, they’re sneaking onto NASDAQ through a shell company already listed there. Nobody cares about this Verb company’s business—they were writing some software or whatever, but now it’s practically a TON-ETF (principal agreements reached 😁). Justin Sun pulled the same stunt with his TRON recently. The news is good—Pasha will have a place to offload his bags (not about us). But TON reacted with a feeble pump followed by a drop. Either someone hacked him and managed to delete his account, or he was just messing around, but once again, it all ended with an epic faceplant. First off, one of his usernames leaked, which turned out not to be an NFT but just a freebie nickname. Someone snatched it up and was thrilled, thinking no one on Telegram could take it back. Turns out, they can—Pasha can. So, they took it back, kinda like when Telegram once seized other people’s usernames and started selling them for tons. Second, nothing serious happened to Pasha’s profile. The deleted account was restored without any damage, with all chats intact, including mine. Well, “chats” is a stretch—I was just sending messages for 5,600 stars, and Pasha didn’t read them. I heard somewhere that a deleted account can’t be restored, and for security reasons, all chats get wiped. But you don’t get it, this is different.Still, they did the right thing—barons should have special privileges. Otherwise, he’d have to write to tech support and wait for a response from volunteers (and never get one). That just wouldn’t do. Let’s do some math. The bot showing the rating currently displays 1,762 pages. Each page has 20 people. That’s 35,240 people who’ve bought gifts with stars. That’s the entire paying audience of Telegram. I’m guessing the number of Telegram Premium subscriptions is about the same. That’s our little swamp. It’s always interesting to see real numbers, not the nonsense from marketers about a billion users, some offers no one’s ever seen for $25 million per username, or Chinese buyers wanting to scoop up all the rings. I’m looking at this Telegram rating, and only one question comes to mind—how do I hide it? Why do I need to show everyone how many stars I’ve spent?
